definatly for two reasons: 1. you are solo roaming, likely deep into 0.0 somewhere with no stations to dock for repair. 2. if your target knows what hes doing you will get hit sometimes, maybe quite a bit on approach, maybe if hes got Ogre IIs etc and manage them well. if you are fighting a missile ship with you wont be able to mitigate all damage at all with the AB, but it will be enough for one MAR to handle. I like combining a 1600 plate buffer with a single medium armor repper on my setups. Put in space whales!

I generally run the cap booster quite a lot, but thats fine because your target is going to be struggling a lot more than you are, also you can run some of the neuts perma once he is capping out.
I wouldnt bother with a nos unless you do a dual MAR setup. I'v tried these but didnt like them so much. neuting the enemy quicker down to 0 cap is more useful.
I run this:
[Pilgrim, Lady in red - 1600] Medium Armor Repairer II 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Damage Control II
Dread Guristas Warp Scrambler 10MN Afterburner II Balmer Series Targeting Inhibitor I, Optimal Range Disruption Balmer Series Targeting Inhibitor I, Optimal Range Disruption Medium Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800
Small Unstable Power Fluctuator I Small Unstable Power Fluctuator I Medium Energy Neutralizer II Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
Trimark Armor Pump I Trimark Armor Pump I
Hammerhead II x5 Vespa EC-600 x5 Warrior II x5 Hobgoblin II x5
small neuts cycle fast and are excellent for keeping people capped out without hurting yours much. been thinking of putting an ACR on there to get another medium neut on, would probably be the better option. Put in space whales!

If i alter a couple of fittings i can fit 2 x med neuts 3 x med nos and a med injector, that would keep everything running easily as well as the NOS giving me the option not to need to use the boosters in virtually EVERY fight if i am roaming far from a available market.
but what cap are you going to be draining? if your target has more cap then you you are screwing up pretty badly. Put in space whales!

I have a few questions, I hope you don't mind and hopefully it'll benefit the OP too:
1. Given the choice between a web and a 2nd TD which would you pick? 2. Would you always pick a cap booster over, say, a large cap battery assuming you can squeeze it on?
There has been much debate on the 2x TD vs web. I prefer dual TD because it also lets me tracking disrupt and kill battlecruisers (optimal range disruption here often). I dont see myself being able to kill a hurricane without dual TD, but maybe thats not the case. I'v always run with dual TD and they have served me well.
I always go for injector over battery. even if the battery supplied enough cap not being instantly wtfbbq:ed when the target happen to have neuts is nice. Put in space whales!

There is one use for a nos. if you have dual MAR it can help you run them while you kill drones if its something with a lot of powerful drones (Megathron with Ogre IIs webbing you for example) Put in space whales!

I can see the benefit of a cap injector for those "OH SH*T" moments, but I figure if you end up aggressing something that has a neut you'd probably want to back off anyway (?)
not necessarily, you'd have to decide depending on how hard hes hitting you. a raven running a heavy neut is going to use a lot of cap for that helping you drain him quicker. of course its going to chew through your booster supply faster.
going for long roams where rats drop cap boosters is neat too. not quite sure exactly who does, but at least sansha drop lots. You can also team up with a rapier buddy and have him haul boosters for you =) Put in space whales!

I must admit I'd never thought of that. Whilst the fight would last a bit longer (slightly longer to drain them), you'd have a lot more EHP too. Maybe even enough to take on a Raven?
ravens are usually not a big problem since you can speed tank them fairly well. still, it takes a while to do it so if hes got backup hope you can pop him first.
http://eve.danlind.se/killboard/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=1539
not exactly a perfect setup, but you can see he can put out some decent damage, and that was no problem at all to tank with a single MAR (I tend to bring exile boosters for those OMG moments too just in case, but didnt use one here)

against a thorax you would have to have really bad luck not to get away, probably wont even need the EC-600s as his cap will go bye-bye quick. the most dangerous thing to get dropped on you is interdictors or HICs since it takes a while to get out of bubbles with an AB and ECMing them doesnt help at all. Originally by: Durzel Edited by: Durzel on 29/04/2009 10:54:05 Obvious answer I guess is: - Ships that don't need tracking to hit you (although I guess it's worth having a pop at a Raven just to get a feel for what's possible) - Ships that don't need cap to tank - Ships that have better drone bonuses/bays than you
also passive setups that are fast can be dangerous. you can kill hurricanes by dual TD-ing and kiting them, but something like a fleet stabber is trixxy. luckily ECM drones jam them in one or two cycles so you can run away.
about drones, I sometimes pack valkyrie IIs instead of hammerheads, but it depends on where i roam. I'v been debating going ec-300s to get an extra set of medium drones to play with, but the GTFO card of the EC-600 is really neat and I'v lost count of how many times they saved my ship. Sometimes it feels like every 1 ratter out of 3 is bait :D Put in space whales!

sadly, imho, in lowsec all you are going to find are pirate bait and failfit idiots (not to say that it isnt fun to kill them though).
0.0 ratters like to make money quick and nothing hinders that more than other people in system screwing with your belts... so finding solo ratters some ways off usually isnt impossible. I find the best hunting to be around downtime when a lot of his buddies are going to be AFK, or just after when a lot of people havent logged in yet. Put in space whales!

Would need to get into a 0.0 alliance then, last time I tried that it didn't end well. Granted though, at the time I barely had the skills to use the Rokh I flew XD. Don't suppose you're looking for a future Pilgrim pilot?
you dont have to live in 0.0 to hunt there :) we are based in lowsec but do roams into 0.0/lowsec. just have to watch out for the guarded entrances. places like curse or syndicate work too but they can be pretty dangerous. you can also roam in providence where all sorts of people are allowed (e.g slightly slower response times for defense fleets)
if you're looking for a corp pm me ingame or if I'm not on join the ZG Public channel and someone will chat with you. Put in space whales!

Depending on what I would expect to face, I would consider getting a 15km (true sansha or domination) web, as they go as far as 19.5km.
that requires recon 5 to fit right? I like dread guristas scramblers. that extra 2 km can be worth it and they are pretty cheap. Put in space whales!

I guess it fails if you end up having to rep constantly because you'll only last as long as your charges do. Do you guys who fly Pilgrims find yourself in situations where you're running your MAR constantly?
yes: 1. while killing targets drones 2. trying to GTFO when your transversal is close to 0 3. when you fail and hit a bait and die shortly after :D Put in space whales!

Is their a reason you insist on trying to use the pilgrim for all your scenarios instead of using the curse for some?.
Covert Ops Cloak
If that is the only reason a rethink should be in order depending on what scenario the pilot is looking to do his ganking, as a cov ops cloaks benifits are circumstantial while the limitations of the pilgrim vs the curse are not off set in many situations by it.
one advantage of cov-ops cloak is the lack of scan-res penalty. Its already pretty hard to lock stuff in time with a pilgrim with a cov-ops cloak, so with a penalty on the curse it get worse (although i guess you can give up a precious midslot for a SB) (just to clarify I'm not talking the recalibration delay thing, but the actual scan-res hit. you get calibration delay on cov-ops as well so I tend to decloak on warp-in even in the pilgrim).
I'v never done much cloak-and.dagger stuff with my curse. I dont tend to put a cloak on it at all. Put in space whales!

Any chance you'd share your Curse fit? I've seen quite a wide variety (unlike the Pilgrim) including shield tanking, AB vs MWD, etc
there are many ways to fit the curse, depending on how you like to fly, but sure, heres mine

Originally by: Durzel Thanks, that's very similar to the ones I had been looking at in EFT though I had assumed that post-nano nerf it was pointless fitting nanofibers?
agility still matters a lot and being faster than someone else that can hurt you until you neuted him is nice.
a lot of people like the full shield tank setups without TD. they are also a lot more cap stable and might be more viable when attacking missile tossers. I dunno, havent tried one myself. Put in space whales!
